May 25, 2011
Sacramento – About 2,000 disability activists have gathered and rallied in front of the State Capitol Wednesday to complain about budget cuts that would affect disabled people, reports said.
The California Foundation for Independent Living Centers held its Eight Annual Disability Capitol Action Day to protest state law amendments that would impact individuals with disabilities.
In their 'Our Voices, Our Choice, Our Vote' rally, the group invited several speakers, legislators and community leaders to promote the involvement of people with disabilities in state policy decisions.
After the program, the organizers explained to legislators the effects of the budget cut to their work, education, and their personal lives.
