E-Verify System Gains Support from 271,460 Employers

Texas-The E-Verify system has gained the support of 271,460 employers as of June 22, according to Department of Homeland Security reports.

According to reports, E-Verify participation increased to 271,460 in June 22 compared to 216,000 employers who enrolled into the system in 2010. More than 1,300 employers each year are expected to add into the program for the upcoming months. At least 11 million records have been screened in fiscal 2011.

Republican lawmakers commented that the growing support on E-Verify system will help trace 11 million illegal immigrants who either work or are seeking employment in the United States.

Critics raised doubts on the accuracy of E-Verify and suggested improving the system to help employers provide fair employment decisions.

Reports said the growing support on the E-Verify has been linked to the enrollment of Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Utah, and Alabama states this year.
