Grand America Hotel to Fire Illegal Workers
September 1, 2011
Salt Lake City- The Grand America Hotel will end the employment contract of undocumented workers in compliance with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) order on Wednesday.
According to reports, the DHS had conducted an audit at Grand America Hotel and discovered several employees who have invalid Social Security numbers and other documents. After several months of investigation, the federal agency instructed the employer to give the affected workers a final one-month notice to update their legal papers.
The federal agency ordered the employer to end the employment contract of workers who had not submitted their documents on Wednesday, reports said.
The management representative said some of the employees presented "seemingly" legal papers when they applied for the company.
Grand America, the city’s five-diamond hotel, was one of the companies which underwent screening from the agency.
