SOCIAL SECURITY LAW: OC Healthcare Facility Charged with $1M Medicare Fraud

Santa Ana – Authorities have charged an Orange County rehabilitation facility of Medicare fraud amounting to nearly $1 million following the arraignment of Tuan Duc Tran, the 50-year old owner of the facility, who pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to reports, Tran operated the Fountain Valley Healthcare Center from May 2003 to January 2008, in which he allegedly submitted fraudulent claims to Medicare for services that were not prescribed by doctors or were not necessary.
The indictment charges also claimed that Tran employed unlicensed personnel in the facility.
Tran is now facing nine mail fraud charges which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
