Healthcare Workers and Retirees Rally against Social Security Cuts
July 28, 2011
Pennsylvania- Dozens of healthcare workers and retirees have rallied against Social Security cuts in front of the office of US Rep. Jason Altmire on Monday.
The healthcare employees joined seniors on protesting in Aliquippa against the recent cuts on Social Security programs. The rallyists raised issues on projected delay on SS checks that could affect disabled and retired beneficiaries, according to reports.
Reports said the seniors requested US Rep. Jason Altmire to push for continuous Social Security benefits for them. The activists also raised worries on a probable delay of checks on August.
The President's Chief of Staff William Daley released a statement on July 26 that Social Security beneficiaries need not panic as the Treasury Department made a contingency plan for paying the August stipends.
