SOCIAL SECURITY LAW: SSA To Stop Sending Mails to Save $70 Million Yearly

Washington – The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced plans to discontinue sending statements to workers thru mail to save around $70 million yearly and let the workers use the agency’s website instead, the agency said in its website.

Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue said that workers may just see their statements online before the year ends if they can resolve security issues. If the plan did not succeed, they will go back to sending the statements thru mail.

This program of the agency has nothing to do with the rumor on the partial shutdown of the government. Yet, they admit that they are working on this program to reduce their operational budget.
