SSA Commissioner Announces Agency’s Services Expansion
January 11, 2013
The Social Security Administration (SSA) Commissioner, Michael J. Astrue, announced the expansion of the SSA’s services last January 7, 2013 through the my Social Security account, reports said.
According to the published press release from the SSA website, my Social Security is an online-personalized account that may be used during the start of the employee’s working years up until the time he or she begins receiving Social Security benefits.
Through this new service, it is estimated that over 60 million Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients can now gain instant access to their payment history, earnings record, and benefit verification letter via an online account. Moreover, beneficiaries can also change their address and begin or modify their direct deposit information.
Accordingly, Commissioner Astrue is encouraging people from all ages to take advantage of the SSA’s award winning online services and to look into the new features of my Social Security account.
